This blog is intended to showcase daily speedpaints - however, I don't intend to upload just any speedpaints. Instead, I want to try to sit down every day and paint a master study; be it Cézanne, Vermeer, Bouguereau or Rembrandt - I intend to study the works of these old masters and upload the results on this blog. The purpose of this project is, obviously, personal improvement. First off, it'll motivate me to practice daily, which in itself will already help me improve, but more importantly I hope to learn a lot about colour theory, composition, styles, ductus and so on from these great people.
Took me longer than just until Tuesday... haha (o^.^o)'
Sorry
Caravaggio - David with the Head of Goliath
I'll call this study finished now. There's still a lot to tweak and I could surely work out many more parts with more details^^ But well, neither will it get better, nor will it help me in any way ;)
Just apologizing for the lack of updates the last few days and showing that I'm still alive. Sadly, I won't be able to paint the coming days either cuz I'll be attending some kind of seminar-weekend organized by AFS concerning a year of doing social work overseas... in my case, Japan ;)
So yeah, no updates until Tuesday, probably :/
Sorry for the lack of updates, but the last few days were filled with celebrations, visiting relatives ('twas my old man's hatchday) and me learning for a shitload of exams. Biology. Me likez, however preparing for written exams is always a bitch^^
So here's another Bouguereau, though 'tis just a close up of the face, not the whole pic. Didn't manage to do anything requiring more time and effort ;)
Instead of just rushing things, I decided to do this study over the course of several days. For now, I got the basics laid down (colour, lighting, shape...), and I think I'll be able to work with a lot more details thanks to taking more time - who would have thought! :]
Caravaggio - David with the Head of Goliath
Yeah, Caravaggio... seems I'm sticking to Baroque painters for now.
